Following on from Darren Da Costa’s blog last week it seems there definitely is a shortage in trades; particularly building trades such as Painters, Plasterers, Carpenters, Floor layers and Plumbers. According to the Industry Employment Projections 2014 Report ( department of employment); building trades are set to rise by 83,500 jobs by 2018!
The reason for the growth has come mostly from the Housing Industry Association who estimate to have 183,000 new dwellings in the next few years. Other contributing factors are the productivity commission are looking at reducing the red tape to get these projects off the ground. With a boom in aged care,retirement villages and housing, now is the time the choose your trade or up skill. There is also added security in that these projects will always require maintenance providing a continuous need for these building trades.
