AI group have today reported the South Australian Government has announced they will introduce legislation to repeal the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2018 (SA). This is a big move by the SA government as this legislation was a long time in the making and has only come into effect early in 2018. The reasons cited are concerned raised by stakeholders about significant problems with the scheme. See the www.sa.gov.au
This announcement has caused a halt to applications for the SA labour hire licence.
At the very same time, the Victorian Government released the Labour Hire Licensing Regulations 2018 to support the Victorian Labour Hire Licensing Scheme which is due to come into effect in Victoria in early 2019.
The Queensland Labour Hire Licensing Scheme came into effect in July 2018 and is currently running despite objections from industry.
